Greenburg on Possible Supreme Court Vacancies

Jan Crawford Greenburg has a nice blog post up at ABC News explaining some of the calculus that will go into the decisions of the Supreme Court's current members in whether to retire during the next four years (thus suiting their preference to be replaced by a President of their ideological liking).

Crawford suggests perhaps those wishing to have real impact on the Court would look immediately to Court of Appeals vacancies that could then be tapped again in the instance of a Supreme Court vacancy in a few years. As the article points out, President Clinton's Court of Appeals Judges are aging and they are going to need to replenish the farm system. It will definitely be an interesting time when this returns to national focus.
